The illustration above sees Bio-Band© fitted to DVF08 filter, which is supplied separately here and is for indicative purposes only. The Bio-Band© Filter Heater was especially developed by Dieselveg after numerous calls and requests from haulage companies and private individuals alike regarding Bio-Diesel usage. Bio-Diesel is relatively trouble free in summertime but in cold temperatures gelling up of the fuel at the filter frequently occurs, this causes restriction of fuel flow, resulting in poor starting and running performance. Whilst we have had success in supplying heat exchangers to combat this problem, the fact is that they can only start to work when the engine is warm, the Bio-Band© can heat a reservoir of hot fuel in a relatively short period of time BEFORE the engine is started therefore un-gelling the contents of the filter. In this case the Dieselveg Bio-Band© can be used with a simple on-off switch (also fused relay is necessary). Either with a heat exchanger on larger engines or on its own with smaller engines. The Bio-Band© is unlike any other heater on the market. The design brief by Dieselveg to its highly respected heater manufacturers was that it must be above all reliable and safe, also small - have a low profile to fit filters easily so they produced one of the highest watt/density silicon heaters there is, it must heat quickly - its twin thermostats allow full preheat before cut-out due to its high temperature thermostat which allows the elements to heat up to 150°C thus giving the heater full efficiency and speed in complete safety, another thermostat monitors the filter temperature at 65°C. This function is impossible with heaters that use self regulating elements or heaters with just one thermostat as the heater would just cut-out at the lower set temperature with no monitoring of the element temperature so heating efficiency and speed would be negatively affected, also the 150°C thermostat sits directly on the element so the heater cannot overheat, this in our view is essential for a safe system.
